A lot of people around the world believe that the term Bollywood refers to every single Indian movie. That is simply not true. Hollywood refers to the entire cinema of the United States while Bollywood only refers to the industry in the city of Mumbai that focuses on films in the Hindi language. There are many other industries that focus on other languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Bengali.

All of them very different, but similar in many ways too. You can quickly notice the similarity in the music, the dancing, and singing, the beautiful costumes, but you will also notice a lot of differences when it comes to directing, the camera angles, the acting, the script and so on.

The music

If you have ever watched any film from the Indian Cinema then you probably are well aware just how much they put effort into the soundtracks. Many of the motion pictures feature at least four or five songs and every single one of those is unique in its own way. Many of those scores are very popular in the country and around the world. Scores from Indian movies often reach the Hot 10 charts.

Many of the soundtracks in these motion pictures do not have anything related to the story, although they can have some relation to the story too. We believe it is also important to mention that most of the tracks have playback singers and the actresses and actors lip-sync the songs.

If you want to listen to any of these songs, you should check out masstamilan.

It may well be the oldest cinema in the world

Many people believe that Hollywood is probably the oldest cinema in the world, but the Indian film industry could well be the first or at least second. The only reason why Hollywood became so popular was because of the wide-spread usage of the English language. The products that came out of the United States could be understood by people all over the world, while Hindi, Tamil, and Bengali languages are not as wide-spread as you would think.

Believe it or not, but just a few years ago, the Indian Cinema celebrated its 100th birthday. The Indian silent film that was produced and directed by Dadasaheb Phalke, marked the beginning of this industry in the country. The story is based on the legend of Harishchandra and the main character was played by Dattatraya Damodar Dabke. It also featured Anna Saluinke and Bhalchandra Phalke. The subtitles (intertitles in the past) were available in several different languages. Viewers had the option of watching in Hindi, Marathi and even in English.
