How to Clean your Earrings in 4 easy Steps

Jewelry is one of those things that makes your outfit a bit more interesting and it adds a little bit of sparkle to it too. Jewelry is something that people have been waiting for centuries, if not millennia. There is tons of proof that people in ancient times have been wearing all kinds of jewelry including rings, necklaces, and most importantly, earrings.

I bet that everyone who likes wearing jewelry has at least one set of earrings. You probably do too which makes sense since you’re here reading this article.

Whether you have earrings made out of gold, silver, whether it has diamonds or any other kind of gem, they can get really dirty while wearing them. The reason why they get so dirty after sometime is because they’re so close to your ears and hear. And we all know just how greasy or full of dandruff here can get and how oily the skin in and around the ears can get too. All of this can gather on the earrings which may lead to serious problems such as discoloration or rust. Rust can be especially dangerous because it can cause an infection on your skin.

Most people do not even know that you could clean earrings and that is understandable. It is not something that is commonly done, but I do believe that it should become a habit of yours. To teach you help studs or gambit is affected, we have made this short and simple guide several steps that you will need to follow.

Hydrogen peroxide

This is a great option for most people because it is something that everyone has at home. You probably have seen hydrogen peroxide be used for cleaning a lot of things such as removing oil or bloodstains, killing mold, or even as a sanitizer. So, if this chemical could deal with such problems then it will easily handle your earrings, right?

The first thing you’ll need to do is grab a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, if you can’t find one at home, you can easily find it at any superstore or pharmacy. A pharmacy will be your safer option. Once you have acquired the hydrogen peroxide, I would recommend putting it in a small coffee cup and then place your earrings inside the cup. If you want to clean your hoops then you will probably have to find a wider and taller cup.

Once they have been soaking inside of the hydrogen peroxide for more than a couple of minutes, you should remove them rinse them under warm or hot water. While washing them with tap water, grab a clean towel, and start rubbing. With enough pressure and consistent rubbing, you will make the gold, the silver, or to gems shine like the day you bought them.

Just wipe them

You might think that all that gunk or dirt has been stuck to your earrings for too long, but did you try to clean them at all? Believe it or not, just by grabbing a clean microfiber cloth, you could clean as good as with any other chemical. By doing this you reduce the chances of causing damage to the material. Naturally, this works better with hoops rather than studs, but it will still do the job for any kind of hearing. And of course, if the dry microfiber cloth is not enough to remove gunk or dirt then that is the moment when you should move to other solutions.

Now that you understand just how easy hoop earrings can be cleaned, you probably have much more interest in them than before and at Nina-nguyen.com, they are one of the most popular items.

For this method to work every single time, I would suggest that you wipe your earrings every time after wearing them. By doing this and being consistent, you effectively reduce the chances of them getting dirty at all.

Dish soap for diamonds

Now, this is something that no one knows about. And there is a good reason for it. It sounds too good to be true. Could regular dish soap that you used to clean dishes at home be good enough to clean diamonds? I know, it sounds ridiculous, but it is actually something that even experts suggest to people that want to clean their diamonds. I actually prefer this method or any other because it’s simple, I always have dish soap at home and it does the job in just a few minutes.

What you will need to do is grab a bottle of dish soap, a cup, a microfiber cloth, and a toothbrush. Put a couple of drops of the dish soap into the cup, put a few drops of water in it too and then start mixing. You’ll notice that it will start to bubble up the same way as when you’re washing dishes and that is when you know that it is ready for wiping down your earrings. Soak the toothbrush into the mixture, then slowly and gently start scrubbing the diamonds. I repeat. You will have to be careful because you wouldn’t want to cause any further damage to your diamonds.

Once you’re done with the scrubbing, put them into the cup with the mixture and let them soak and there for one or three minutes. Once you remove them out of the cup, give them another gentle scrub with the toothbrush and then rinse them with water. And you’re done, now your diamonds are shining again.

Rinse them with hot water

You have probably used hot water to clean tons of different things including clothes, dishes, and a bunch of other things. Well, believe it or not, but it also works for your jewelry too. If the water is hot enough it will remove any kind of oil, gunk, and dirt. So, you just need to put your earrings into a cup of hot water and leave them for a couple of minutes. Remove them, wipe them and that’s it.

There are several different ways you can clean your earrings, but I believe these are the most effective and simplest once.
